- This paper describes the design and development of a low-cost educational temperature control system, developed by the
authors at the Near East University. The system has been designed with educational usage in mind, and thus all parts of the
system can easily be purchased and constructed in a short time and with little effort. The hardware of the system consists of
a popular microcontroller development kit with an LCD, a temperatur sensor device, a fan, and a suitable heating element, all
housed in a glass enclosure for easy access to all parts of the system. Using the kit students learn to model the system, and
write high-level programs to control and keep the temperature inside the system at the specified value. The results of a
survey carried out by the authors is given in the paper, and it was found that students liked to use the developed kit in their
laboratory sessions.
